Even with winter winding down, we still keep getting snow. Part of living in New England is adapting to the snow while keeping yourself occupied, and turning the snow into a positive to get the most out of it. Now, this can be something as easy sledding down a hill near your home for some. For others who are into skiing and snowboarding, New England has some of the best options for mountains. There are plenty of options, whether you are just looking for somewhere close to get a quick day in, or would like to escape for a weekend to a top resort further north.
Any Montage at Brookview residents looking for a local option to ski or snowboard can take a quick trip to Wachusett Mountain. Located about an hour northwest of Franklin, you can get there via I-495 and I-290. Wachusett has 25 open trails, and 8 lifts. The resort area of the mountain has several dining options, including a pub-style restaurant, and several cocktail lounges. Daily lift tickets range from $54-$66 depending on the day, and can be purchased here.
For those looking to travel a little further north, and turn it into a ski weekend, you have plenty of options throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. One of the closer options is Mount Sunapee. It is roughly a 2 hour drive north of Franklin into New Hampshire, and it is accessible via I-495 and I-89 N. This mountain is considerably larger than Wachusett, and has 65 open trails and 8 operating lifts. While there is no lodging directly on the mountain you can find a list of nearby hotels, bed & breakfasts, country inns, and cottages here. The mountain has 6 different lodges that provide food and drink, each with a unique atmosphere. However, only the Goosefeathers Pub offers alcoholic beverages if you are looking to enjoy a drink with your meal. You can save money by purchasing your lift tickets online here.
This is not an exhaustive list of ski resorts in the New England area, but rather a quick glimpse into some of the options available to Montage at Brookview residents. We hope this can be used to help you maximize your time on the slopes this season!
